Participation in the conference “Hate Crime” held at Sremski Karlovci

The Provincial protector of citizens – ombudsman organized a conference entitled “Hate Crime” in Sremski Karlovci on September 4th, 2019.

In the introductory part of the conference the attendees were addressed, the Provincial protector of citizens – ombudsman prof. Zoran Pavlovic, PhD, Director Gymnasium “Branko Radicevic”  – prof. Radovan Kovacevic, Director of the Victimology Society of Serbia Vesna Nikolic Ristanovic and The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic. All the editors emphasized that without an empowered individual and community, with the institutions of the system, violence cannot be stopped, and thus hate crimes. In addition, the conference was attended by lawyers, political scientists and experts in criminal law, victimology, communication science and human rights protection. In addition to the aforementioned participants, the conference was also attended by professors and students of the third year of the Gymnasium “Branko Radicevic” Sremski Karlovci.

Paper on the topic: “ANALYSIS OF UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HATE CRIME LAWS AND SOME CASES FROM THE PRACTICE”, which has be done in co-authorship with Brendan Keenan, was presented by  Aleksandar Ivanovic, PhD president of the Association of citizens Monitor.

Provincial Protector of Citizens – Ombudsman continued the good practice established in previous years – and published proceedings of the conference entitled “Human Rights Protection”, which contains works by 12 eminent authors in the field of human rights protection, which were presented at conference.
