TOYP (Ten Outstanding Young Persons) is a program of JCI (Junior Chamber International), an international organization of young leaders and entrepreneurs, which has over 200,000 active and millions of honorary members participating in projects, conferences and seminars.
This program is intended to promote young people, where they will be given space to display their efforts and achievements, and the goal of the JCI TOYP program is to enable the best to be noticed not only locally but also internationally. In that way, they will be given the opportunity to hear their work, work and noble ideas far away and thus serve as inspiration for everyone.
Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Ivanović was declared the winner of the JCI TOYP program for Serbia, in the category “Contribution to children, peace in the world and / or human peacocks” for 2021, which was organized by JCI Novi Sad.
In statement from the JCI Novi Sad on the occasion of the award stands: “Prof. Dr. Aleksandar R. Ivanović is a distinguished young professor of law, specializing in criminal law, human rights and security studies. He was born on September 23, 1984 in Novi Pazar. He completed his master’s and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law, Department of Criminology, International University of Novi Pazar, and has been employed at the Department of Legal Sciences of the International University of Novi Prazar in Serbia since 2008, where he currently works as an associate professor of criminal law.
He is actively involved in scientific work in the field of criminal law, human rights and security sciences. He published his works in domestic and foreign journals. So far, he has independently and co-authored more than 80 scientific and professional papers in these fields. He participated in more than 40 international scientific-professional gatherings. He also co-authored books entitled: “Crime Prevention 2011”, “Hate speech in electronic media and social networks 2019”, “Peaceful conflict resolution and building trust in multicultural environments in order to fight against radicalism and violent extremism 2020”. Handbook for Hate Crimes Moot Court 2020 ”and textbooks:“ Criminalistic Technique 2011 ”,“ Criminalistic Procedures 2013 ”and“ Economic Crime 2013 ”.
Since 2013, he has been engaged as a professor of criminal law, criminolistic, human rights, theory and practice of conflict resolution and clinical legal education in the Western Balkans region. As a visiting professor, he taught on study programme of security and criminalistic at the Faculty of Law in Podgorica, University of Montenegro, then at the Faculty of Law, Business College in Pristina, Detashed higher education unit in Prizren and the Faculty of Law in Lukavica, PIM University Banja Luka. He is also a lecturer at several summer schools in the Western Balkans region in the areas of human rights, inter-ethnic conflict prevention and war crimes research and prosecution. As an invited lecturer since 2013, he has been engaged at the Faculty of Political Studies in Dramen, University of Southeast Norway in Buskerud, where he has repeatedly lectured on the methodology of detecting and proving war crimes and hate crimes. He is the founder of the journal Pravne teme (ISSN 2334-8100) of the Department of Legal Sciences of the International University in Novi Pazar, whose editor-in-chief he was from 2013-2019. years. In two terms from 2007 to 2013, he performed the duty of assistant dean, and from 2013-2019 in one term, he was the dean of the Department of Legal Sciences at the International University in Novi Pazar.
He is the founder and president of the civil society organization MONITOR Novi Pazar, Serbia, which was founded in 2011 and is engaged in capacity building and research in the field of human security, conflict management and hate crimes and hate speech. Since 2013, the focus of his work has been clinical-legal education, ie training of young lawyers through learning through practice. To this end, he participated in the launch of several clinical-legal trainings supported by the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the United States Mission to the OSCE, the United States Embassy in Belgrade, the Council of Europe, the European Union, and the International Republican Institute from Washington, etc. The OSCE Mission to Serbia awarded him with award Person of the Year 2019, and the award was given to him for advocating for a comprehensive approach in the areas of rule of law and human rights. “Professor Ivanović has significantly contributed to the education of new generations in the field of the rule of law, especially by including the methods of legal clinics and learning through practice. “He has launched numerous projects and research initiatives to combat hate crimes, advocating for multiculturalism and non-discrimination, while encouraging youth involvement and cooperation among young people across the region,” the OSCE Mission said in a statement.
Professor Ivanović is recognized among his peers for his strong research and project skills, along with specialized expertise in teaching the following subjects: criminal law and criminalistic, ethnic conflict in the Western Balkans, war crimes and hate crimes, radicalism and extremism, and conflict management. It is also a dedicated leader and facilitator who has helped combat human rights violations through leadership, entrepreneurship and participation in a wide range of European conferences, research initiatives, papers and projects”.
