In the period from June to December, CSO MONITOR from Novi Pazar is in cooperation with the Security Council of the city of Novi Pazar, and with financial support, the support of the OSCE Mission in Serbia within the project “Consolidation of the process of democratization of the security sector in the Republic of Serbia – phase 5” which is supported by the Government of Sweden, implemented a project called “Participation of citizens in the development of an Action plan for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Plan of the City of Novi Pazar – Security Module, for the period 2021-2030”.

The project was implemented with the aim of drafting an Action Plan for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Plan of the City of Novi Pazar – Security Module, for the period 2021-2030, with the inclusion of citizens in the process of creating this draft, and the implementation of advocacy for its adoption by the competent local self-government body.

After the conducted research, the creation of the first version of the Action Plan, as well as the process of consultation with the public, at the beginning of November 2022, the final version of the draft Action Plan was created and the implementation of the second phase of the project was started. The goal of the second phase of the project is to establish a dialogue with relevant actors (initiators, facilitators and decision-makers) at the level of the local government of Novi Pazar and advocate the adoption of the Action Plan.

In accordance with the above, the project team held individual meetings with the Mayor of Novi Pazar, the President of the City Assembly of Novi Pazar, the heads of committee groups in the City Assembly of Novi Pazar, members of the city council, managers of the city administration, secretaries of the city council and city assembly. The aim of these meetings was to acquaint the aforementioned actors with the contents of the draft Action Plan, as well as with the manner in which it was prepared. In addition, these meetings were used to provide possible suggestions or proposals on the draft of the Action Plan, before it is officially proposed for adoption.

After the process of advocacy and consideration of the suggestions of local self-government representatives, it is expected that the draft Action Plan will be approved by the Security Council of the city of Novi Pazar in the coming period.
