As part of the seventeenth meeting, young people from local communities were introduced to the Moj Novi Pazar app—a tool designed to improve communication between citizens and local authorities and to enhance the quality of life in Novi Pazar. In addition to learning about the app’s features, participants had the opportunity to share their suggestions and ideas to contribute to its further development.
Moj Novi Pazar offers users various features, including access to information on local events, infrastructure projects, and community activities. Citizens can track ongoing projects, participate in voting on initiatives that affect them, and directly communicate with local authorities.
“The app is an important channel through which citizens can access information about everything happening in their surroundings. It also enables them to give feedback and suggestions, which contributes to the democratization of the decision-making process,” one of the meeting organizers emphasized.
Participants shared several suggestions to improve the app’s efficiency. One of the most prominent proposals was to improve the user interface, making it more user-friendly—especially for older citizens. Additionally, it was proposed that the app include sections dedicated to volunteer opportunities, to further boost civic engagement.
“We love being involved in community activities, but it’s often difficult to find relevant information. Volunteer initiatives should be centralized within the app so we can more easily follow and participate in them,” said one young attendee.
One of the key features of the Moj Novi Pazar app is the ability for citizens to propose and vote on small local projects. Residents can now directly submit initiatives to improve their neighborhoods—whether related to infrastructure or cultural projects—aimed at solving issues in their street or area that may be overlooked or not seen as a priority by the wider community. This system promotes greater participation in decision-making and gives people the chance to influence meaningful changes in their environment through small yet impactful “neighbor-led” projects.
Thanks to the app, citizens can monitor the progress of these projects and propose new ideas that could improve quality of life. This increases both accountability and transparency in implementation.
The Moj Novi Pazar app lays the foundation for the modernization and democratization of the local community. Through its features, it empowers citizens to actively participate in shaping the future of their city. In the coming months, the app is expected to undergo further improvements to better meet the needs and aspirations of the local community.
