Seminar for peer educators on hate speech on electronic media and social networks in southwestern Serbia has been completed

On November 11, 2018 in Vrnjacka Banja, a three-day seminar has been completed for peer educators on the subject of hate speech on electronic media and on social networks in southwestern Serbia.

The seminar was organized by the Association of citizens “Monitor” from Novi Pazar, with the financial support of the United States Embassy in Serbia.

21 peer educators attended this seminar, and in the following period, they will use the acquired knowledge from this seminar to held presentations and workshops on the issue of raising the security culture of youth in relation to hate speech in electronic media and social networks in southwestern Serbia.

Lecturers at the seminar were doc. Dr. Dragana Randjelovic and doc. Dr. Mirza Totic. Lectures on topics: “Theoretical considerations speak hate”, “Hate speech on the Internet”, “Hate speech on local electronic media and social networks in the context of Southwestern Serbia” and “Combating hate speech on the Internet with a special focus on southwestern Serbia” was held by doc . Dr. Dragana Randjelovic, while doc. Dr. Mirza Totić introduced the participants of the seminar with “The Historical Development of Hate Speech in the United States and the Society’s Response” and with “International, European and Domestic Legal Standards regarding hate speech”.

After successful completion of the seminar participants Doc. Dr. Aleksandar Ivanović, President of Association of citizen Monitor from Novi Pazar, has awarded certificates of attendance to peer educators as well as certificate of accomplishment for lecturers and member of organizing committee of seminar.
