Prof. Dr Predrag Ilic, a retired full-time professor of criminalistics and security sciences, on December 26 and 27, 2018, held a seminar for researchers in the premises of the Training Center in Novi Pazar, OSCE Mission to Serbia. The seminar was realized for the needs of the project “Human Security Monitor in Southwestern Serbia”, which CSO Monitor from Novi Pazar realizing in the period from October 19, 2018 to March 18, 2019 in the territory of Kraljevo, Novi Pazar, Raska and Tutin. The project was supported by the OSCE Mission in Serbia with the funds of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
In order to better understand human security in four cities/municipalities of southwestern Serbia (Kraljevo, Novi Pazar, Raska and Tutin), CSO Monitor through this project seeks to establish a sustainable and reliable public mechanism for a comprehensive overview of data related to four segments of human security (individual security, social security, health safety and environmental protection), and thus provide to the general public with basic information on identified and perceived human security needs in the four cities/municipalities of southwestern Serbia.
Project activities involve the collection of data on forms of endangering these four segments of human security which were detected by the relevant organizations and institutions, on the one hand, and research how citizens perceive the state of the human security through the four segments. The methodology for researching how citizens perceive the state of human security in these four cities / municipalities will include research through questionnaires, structured interviews and focus groups.
The final result of the project will be the establishment of a public online platform that will contain comparative data on four segments of human security (individual safety, social security, health safety and environmental protection) for four cities/municipalities of southwestern Serbia (Kraljevo, Novi Pazar, Raska and Tutin ) and the creation and publication of a qualitative and comparative report on the perceived and detected state of human security in the four selected segments of human security for these four local communities in southwestern Serbia.
The aim is to enable citizens and the professional community to engage in the process of security sector reform in an easier and more efficient manner, as well as to better understand the needs in the field of human security, as well as to create the basis for further research in the field of finding sustainable and feasible solutions to issues related to human security.
