In today’s digital age, technology is increasingly used as a tool to enhance everyday life, and My Novi Pazar is a prime example of how an application can become a vital bridge between young people and their active participation in local decision-making processes. This was the key conclusion of the third round of youth consultations. The app, designed to improve youth participation in the life of the city, lays the foundation for guiding future leaders and activists toward responsibility and engagement within their community.
But why is the My Novi Pazar app so significant—especially when considering its role in understanding and implementing action plans and other key documents that shape local policies? This question was explored in detail during the latest consultation.
Every local government develops strategies, action plans, and documents related to development, education, employment, and the social inclusion of youth. However, these processes often lack sufficient involvement of young people. As a result, many action plans are not adequately tailored to youth needs, as they are created without meaningful participation. The My Novi Pazar app addresses this issue by creating a digital platform through which young people can be directly consulted on key issues affecting their lives in the community.
My Novi Pazar enables youth from all city neighborhoods to participate in consultation processes, ensuring their voices are heard when shaping the future of the city. Through a simple and intuitive interface, users can take part in surveys, share proposals, express opinions on draft documents and initiatives, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing actions. This form of digital participation not only collects valuable data but also allows for quick responses to the needs and interests of young people.
Through the app, youth become active participants in local decision-making. This process helps them understand how local administration works, how action plans are created and implemented, and how they can most effectively influence decisions that shape their daily lives. The app promotes transparency by allowing all users access to the results of surveys and consultations, as well as the specific decisions made based on their input.
Such an approach not only increases inclusivity but also empowers young people to feel like valuable members of their community—capable of identifying and driving the changes they want to see.
Connecting youth with local authorities through a digital platform enables the implementation of policies that are aligned with the actual needs and aspirations of young people, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the local community.
