Participation at the 8th Seminar for young researchers on Labour Law and Social Law at Warsaw (Poland)

From 23-26th April 2015 year at the Faculty of law of the University of Warsaw, a “8th seminar for young researchers on labor and social law” was held. The seminar was organized by the Network on European Labor and Social Law of Young Researchers, and the official language of the seminar was English.

The network of young researchers of European labor and social law aims to promote scientific discuss ion and cooperation between post-graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in the field of labor and social law (social security) on the European soil. The work of the network, like previous years, was supported by Professor Tin Jaspers, Utrecht University, Volfhard Kohte from Marty Luter University from Halle-Vittenberg, Jozef Hajdu from the University of Szeged and Lukaš Pisarczki from the University of Warsaw. The aim of this year’s seminar is to promote the promotion of international cooperation between representatives of law schools from different countries. The 8th seminar includes the following thematic units:

  • International Labor Law and Social Law (Social Security Law);
  • European Employment and European Employment and Social Law (Social Security Law);
  • Comparative labor and social law (social security law).

Participants of this seminar were young researchers from the following countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, Serbia and Montenegro.

Work on the seminar took place through the following sessions:

  • Individual right to employment and fundamental social rights;
  • Answers to the challenges of individual right to employment;
  • External labor law challenges;
  • Development of collective right to work;
  • New forms of revolving / international labor law regulation.

Participation in the seminar was also taken over by the president of the association “Monitor”, doc. Dr Aleksandar R. Ivanovic, who in cooperation with dr. Dragan Randjelović presented joint work on the topic “The new labor law in the Republic of Serbia – harmonization with the law of the European Union, a real promise or a myth” within the “External labor law challenges” session.

Professors Ivanović and Professor Randjelović in their work introduced the participants at the conference with new solutions of the Labor Law of the Republic of Serbia, primarily by emphasizing its social aspects and the position and rights of workers. Also, in their work, they tried to determine whether and to what extent justified the expectation of the legislator, on the one hand, and the fulfillment of promises given to employees, on the other hand, that the new law would be harmonized with the standards and the law of the European Union.
