Participation in the presentation and discussion on the topic of prosecution of hate crimes in south-eastern Europe

In the premises of the Training Center in Novi Pazar, the OSCE Mission at Serbia on May 21, 2019 organized the presentation of research and discussion on the topic of prosecuting hate crimes in South Eastern Europe. As part of this event, the Proceedings from the Sarajevo Conference from 2016, which was held with the support of the OSCE, was presented. The conference presented 13 scientific / research papers on the topic of hate crimes from the perspective of authors coming from the countries of Southeast Europe. The presentation was opened by the representatives of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, who presented in their presentations different aspects of the criminal prosecution of hate crimes, including the latest developments in the Republic of Serbia on this subject. After the introductory presentations, there was presentation of the author, doc. Dr. Aleksandar Ivanović, president of the Association of Citizens’ “Monitor”, who presented his co-authorial work, which was done with his colleague Lars Petter Soltvedt from the University of South East Norway, on the topic “The Impact of the Economic Crisis on Hate Crimes in the Territory of the Countries of the Former Yugoslavia”. The paper was presented at the Sarajevo Conference 2016 and published in the Conference proceedings from this conference. After the presentation, a discussion was opened on the issue of criminal prosecution of hate crimes.
