The project “Participation of citizens in the drafting of an action plan for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Plan of the City of Novi Pazar – Security module, for the period 2021-2030” has started

CSO Monitor from Novi Pazar, with the support of the OSCE Mission in Serbia as part of the project “Consolidation of the process of democratization of the security sector in the Republic of Serbia – phase 5″ supported by the Government of Sweden, in the period from July to December 2022 is implementing a project called ” Participation of citizens in the drafting of an action plan for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Plan of the City of Novi Pazar – Security Module, for the period 2021-2030″.

This project was created to improve the state of human security in the city of Novi Pazar in the period 2021-2030.

The specific goals of the project are reflected in:

– scientific and professional contribution to the drafting of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Plan of the City of Novi Pazar – Security Module for the period 2021-2030;

– establishing a dialogue between citizens, the academic community, civil society, the media, and security institutions in the drafting of the Action Plan, in accordance with the security needs of the local community, through partnership and the use of available mechanisms such as, for example, public consultations;

– advocacy for the adoption of the draft Action Plan for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Plan of the City of Novi Pazar – Security Module 2021-2030.

For the purpose of effective implementation of project activities on 07/29/2022. In the presence of the President of the Security Council of the city of Novi Pazar, Mr. Hajrudin Hajrović, an agreement on cooperation on this project was signed between the city of Novi Pazar and the CSO MONITOR. The agreement was signed by the Mayor of Novi Pazar, Nihat Biševac, and the President of the CSO MONITOR, Aleksandar Ivanović. Establishing cooperation facilitates the partnership between local self-government and civil society organizations in terms of information exchange and scientific-professional, technical and institutional cooperation in the process of drafting the Action Plan for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Plan of the City of Novi Pazar – Security Module 2021-2030. Public consultations (general public, representatives of the academic community, civil society organizations, student organizations, media workers and professional public) aim to contribute to the drafting of an action plan that respects the real needs of citizens for security protection in the local community of Novi Pazar. In addition to this, the intention of the agreement is to facilitate the implementation of the process of advocating the adoption of the draft Action Plan, tailored to the citizens needs, with the members of the Security Council of the city of Novi Pazar, as well as decision makers at the level of Novi Pazar, i.e. representatives of the Assembly and the City Council. By signing the cooperation agreement on the above-mentioned project, the start of the implementation of the project activities was made official.

Note that the city of Novi Pazar, in partnership with CSO MONITOR, was accepted as a member of the Global Initiative Partnership for Open Governance at the Local Level (OGP Local) in May of this year, and that one of the strategic determinants of this initiative is the establishment of a strong partnership with civil society organizations at the local level. level, with the aspiration for local self-government to be as open and inclusive as possible, to facilitate the participation of citizens in the creation of public policies at the level of the local community and strengthen citizens’ trust in the institutions and bodies of local self-government.
