In the period from April 1 to 24, 2021, the “Spring Law School 2021” was realized for law students in Novi Pazar, which is implemented by the OSCE Mission to Serbia in cooperation with local partners as part of the project “Legal Learning for Southwest Serbia”, with the financial support of the US Mission to the OSCE.
The aim of this project is to build the professional capacity of young lawyers in Novi Pazar, through better acquaintance with the rules and procedures of rule of law institutions, giving them the opportunity to apply textbook learning in practice based on real cases encountered by courts at Novi Pazar, while encouraging networking among participants of diverse backgrounds, lawyers, prosecutors and judges, as well as central institutions in Belgrade.
CSO Monitor from Novi Pazar as an implementation partner in the project was in charge of hiring lecturers and implementing the administrative aspects required for their participation and coordinating the training schedule for the Spring School of Law 2021. The Spring Law School 2021 hired 11 mentors, including law professors from Novi Pazar, and practitioners (judges, prosecutors and lawyers) from this city. Through mentoring sessions, 24 participants of the Spring School of Law 2021 were trained for the realization of simulation courtrooms in the field of criminal and civil law. At the final competition from April 19 to 24, 2021, four teams of participants realized one simulation courtroom in the field of criminal law and one simulation courtroom in the field of civil law. Recognitions for the best written submissions, the best oral presentations, best leading the trial, and the best written verdicts in trial simulations were awarded to the participants according to the assessment of their mentors. The best rated participants were awarded by the OSCE Mission to Serbia with a set of manuals for the preparation of the bar exam by the publisher “Projuris”.
